In times of emergency, NACDS chain and associate members have consistently contributed to recovery and relief efforts, further demonstrating their connection and investment in the communities they serve. Most recently, the Rite Aid Foundation donated funds to the Red Cross to help the victims, families and communities affected by the devastating landslide that occurred in Snohomish County in Oso, Wash. on March 22. Rite Aid operates 17 stores in Snohomish County.

Chuck Morrison, regional executive director of the Snohomish County chapter of the Red Cross, said, “Thanks to generous contributions like this, the Red Cross is able to help people whose lives have been forever changed by the devastating landslide by providing critical support services.”

Walgreens will also make a contribution to the Red Cross Oso Mudslide Relief Fund.  In addition, during the next two weeks customers shopping at any Walgreens store in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Northern Idaho will have the opportunity to make donations to the relief fund in increments of $1, $5 or $10.

Seattle-based Bartell Drugs, which owns and operates 63 locations in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties, has pledged to match customer contributions with a donation to Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services.

Bartell Drugs, which owns and operates 63 locations in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties, has pledged $10,000 to match customer contributions with a donation to Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services.

NACDS will watch for additional examples of NACDS chain members’ responses to the Washington landslide. Our hope is that they will inspire continued engagement to meet the needs of our fellow Americans.
