Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) got a chance to learn about pharmacy value and accessibility during a tour of the Safeway Pharmacy in Fort Collins, Colo., as part of the NACDS RxIMPACT grassroots advocacy program.

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) toured a Safeway Pharmacy in Fort Collins, Colo., recently as part of the NACDS RxIMPACT Pharmacy Tour program.

The pharmacy team discussed all aspects of day-to-day pharmacy patient care with the senator and explained the qualifications pharmacists and technicians need to have to serve patients as some of the nation’s most accessible healthcare providers. The team detailed patient services to the senator, like medication therapy management and vaccinations. The senator asked about services for veterans and discussed the challenges of providing services to patients in rural areas. Notably, in a Morning Consult poll commissioned by NACDS, 88 percent of voters in Colorado said that pharmacies are easy to access.

The team also had the opportunity to thank Sen. Gardner for his support of NACDS-backed, bipartisan legislation to expand pharmacist services, S. 109, the Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act.
