“I’ve only been to Washington six times in my life, believe it or not, and five of those have been within the past year,” pharmacist, pharmacy owner and Georgia State Senator Buddy Carter told television station WTOC on Tuesday night. By the look of things, he better look into joining a frequent flyer program.

Carter defeated Dr. Bob Johnson – a surgeon – in a Republican primary runoff, earning the right to face Democrat Brian Reese in the general election for Georgia’s First Congressional District seat. Reese prevailed in his Democratic primary runoff yesterday.

The winner will succeed U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA), who ran for the U.S. Senate but was defeated by businessman David Perdue yesterday in a Republican primary runoff.
The NACDS Political Action Committee (NACDS-PAC) has supported Carter’s campaign.
