U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Melissa Joseph, a field representative for the Congressman, on July 22 visited a Westminster Maryland, Giant Pharmacy. Pharmacy representatives included Tom Cormier, director of government affairs for Ahold USA; Mark Adamcik, region vice president for Region 5 Giant of Landover; Robert Hass, district director Giant of Landover; Paul Zvaleny, regional pharmacy manager of Giant of Landover; Robert Eickhoff, store manager of Giant 109, and Louis Brill, pharmacist at Giant Pharmacy 109.

During the pharmacy tour, the Congressman saw the updated waiting areas and drop-off and pick-up lines created for customers. The Congressman and the other participants discussed the accessibility of pharmacists and staff and their ability to provide services that people of the community may not be able to receive anywhere else. Giant noted the pharmacy’s availability 364-days-a-year, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Among the programs presented to the Congressman were the services of diabetic care pharmacists, medication therapy management and comprehensive medication reviews, as well as Giant’s partnership with in-store nutritionists. Immunization services also were discussed – as well as their availability with no appointment necessary – even on nights, weekends, and holidays.
