SUBJECT: Presidential Debate Watchers in D.C. to See NACDS Flu Ads

NACDS’ flu-vaccination message is set to achieve significant visibility before the Washington, D.C. political establishment and opinion leaders this week. In the Washington, D.C. market, our TV ads will run five times each on FOX News Channel and CNN on Tuesday and Wednesday – the “Presidential debate day” and “debate reaction day.” The placements are scheduled to include slots just 10 minutes prior to the start of the debate on both stations – an important placement given that the debate itself was not interrupted with advertising. We have a similar strategy surrounding the second Presidential debate, which will be held October 15.

In addition, our ads continue to run on Sundays in the Washington, D.C. market during CNN’s State of the Union and FOX News Sunday. The Spanish ad also is running in the D.C. market on the popular Sunday evening news shows on Univision, Noticiero Univisión and Aquí Y Ahora. Visibility of the Sunday shows has been even higher than expected given the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

Building visibility in the Washington, D.C. market is an important part of our strategy to empower opinion leaders with communications resources that can help them spread the word among their constituencies about the critical importance of preventing a two-front public health war with flu and COVID-19. More than 70 NACDS members, state pharmacy associations, colleges and schools of pharmacy, allied health and business groups, government organizations, and others have signed on to collaborate.

Among our collaborators are the following: American Legislative Exchange Council, American Pharmacists Association, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation, Healthcare Leadership Council, Immunization Action Coalition, National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations, National Association of Medicaid Directors, National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and more. NACDS also engaged proactively with the National Conference of State Legislatures during its recent BaseCamp 2020 virtual event.
