During NACDS RxIMPACT on Capitol Hill Day last week, pharmacy advocates met with every member of Congress who serves on a congressional healthcare committee, and with every member of Congress who was newly elected in November 2014.

The event facilitated more than 460 congressional meetings on key pro-patient and pro-pharmacy issues, which translates to meetings with more than 85 percent of the U.S. Congress.

The simultaneous Virtual Hill Day encouraged advocates to participate in NACDS RxIMPACT’S biggest letter-writing campaign ever, urging Congress to recognize the value of pharmacy by sending 1,875 letters to 201 Representatives and 82 Senators. The letters asked members of Congress to support provider status legislation (H.R. 592/S. 314); sign a congressional letter to the Secretary of Health and Human Services calling for appropriate Medicaid reimbursement; and protect patient access to care.

NACDS continues to follow up with the congressional offices to underscore the important of the pro-patient, pro-pharmacy legislative priorities outlined in the letters.
