High-profile speakers lent their insight, expertise and perspective on an ever-changing retail and healthcare landscape.
Themes of optimism about where the industry is headed—spurred by unprecedented change—prevailed with NACDS President & CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE, declaring this moment in time “a renaissance of health, wellness and customer-focused retailing.”

Dr. Ben S. Bernanke, former chairman of the Federal Reserve, delivered keynote remarks at the conference and revealed a special connection to pharmacy—he is the son and grandson of pharmacists. Bernanke went on to discuss the challenges he faced guiding the country through some of the most serious financial challenges in its history. NACDS’ Anderson said, “Offering NACDS Total Store Expo attendees the opportunity to hear from national leaders such as Dr. Bernanke illustrates NACDS’ commitment to its members in providing timely and relevant programming to help suppliers and retailers meet with success.”
