NACDS and our industry mourn the loss of highly respected industry executive Gene Bailey. Gene was unique in that he worked not only for NACDS chain and associate members, but he also served as a member of the NACDS staff from 1998-2002. Gene began his career with American Stores in the Osco Division and then moved on to Harco where he headed up their purchasing organization. Following the acquisition of Harco, Gene joined NACDS as the Director of Purchasing where he headed up an importation program for regional chain members of NACDS. In 2002, Gene transitioned to Atico, an NACDS Associate Member where he worked until 2013. Gene was well-respected and liked by his peers and associates.
