President Joe Biden during his remarks on Wednesday, May 12

During his remarks on Wednesday, May 12, regarding the COVID-19 response and the vaccination program, President Joe Biden underscored the unique convenience and accessibility of community pharmacies nationwide, noting that more than 15,000 pharmacies are prepared to vaccinate adolescents ages 12-15.

President Biden’s comments follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation on Wednesday of the Pfizer vaccine for children of that age group:

“Now [the Pfizer] vaccine is authorized for ages 12 and up, and I encourage their parents to make sure they get the shot. As I promised last week, we’re ready. This new population is going to find the vaccine rollout fast and efficient. As of [Thursday, May 13], more than 15,000 pharmacies across this country will be ready to vaccinate this age group. Most of these pharmacies are as close as the kid’s school is to their family home.”
