The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Preparedness Month (NPM) in September is particularly timely as Hurricane Florence bears down on the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. this week. NPM’s theme this year is: Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.

Visit the Ready.gov website for comprehensive resources on disaster preparedness.

NACDS partner Healthcare Ready has activated its Emergency Operations Center to support healthcare and public health response operations to Hurricane Florence. It has also activated RxOpen, a system that reports the operating status of pharmacies and posted emergency refill protocols for South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

NACDS traditionally documents the engagement of member companies during natural disasters like Hurricane Florence to provide ideas about how interested individuals and companies can lend assistance—particularly since long-term support will likely be necessary in the aftermath of the hurricane. To provide any information on how your companies in the affected areas are responding to the hurricane, please email NACDS’ Lisa Boylan at lboylan@nacds.org. This information will be updated regularly.
