<p style="text-align: center;"><em>Civello accepts Sheldon W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award</em></p>
<p><strong>Scottsdale, Ariz.</strong> &ndash; Recognized for his nearly five decades of service to pharmacy and chain drug store industry, <a href="http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/37219494:26235751375:m:1:289464669:0E8919A78F7FBAE011826B39B1F60DB7:r">Anthony N. Civello</a>, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Kerr Drug, Inc., was awarded the distinguished Sheldon W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award during the NACDS Annual Meeting.</p>
<p>The Sheldon &ldquo;Bud&rdquo; W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 1989 to recognize exceptional accomplishments and contributions to the industry.&nbsp; Chain pharmacy&rsquo;s highest honor, it was renamed in 1996 in honor of Bud Fantle of People&rsquo;s Drug Stores.</p>
<p>Civello&rsquo;s leadership spans nearly five decades serving the pharmacy and chain drug industry.&nbsp; As a student at the University of Pittsburgh&rsquo;s School of Pharmacy in 1965, Civello worked in a part-time position with Thrift Drug and rose through the ranks to a senior executive during the next 30 years.&nbsp; Civello took the helm at Kerr Drug, Inc. in 1996 and ran one of the most innovative chains in the country.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Civello has been a highly-engaged member of NACDS.&nbsp; He joined the NACDS Board of Directors in 1998 and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2005-2007. He also served on the NACDS Foundation Board from 2003-2013.</p>
<p>&ldquo;It is truly fitting that Tony receive chain pharmacy&rsquo;s highest honor.&nbsp; &lsquo;Bud&rsquo; Fantle was a mentor to Tony in his early days of pharmacy, showing him &lsquo;the ropes&rsquo; in an industry that even then was evolving and changing rapidly,&rdquo; said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE.&nbsp; &ldquo;Always the selfless leader, Tony put the profession of pharmacy, his fellow employees, patients and customers first.&nbsp; And with an eye towards the future, he empowered many to rise to the challenge in becoming the next generation of pharmacists and industry leaders.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p>
<p>The award was presented to Civello by Mark Griffin, president and chief executive officer of Lewis Drugs, Inc. and Larry Merlo, president and chief executive officer of CVS Caremark Corporation last evening.&nbsp; Civello was publicly recognized by his colleagues, friends and family, including his wife Susan, at the NACDS Annual Meeting Dinner and Awards Ceremony.</p>
