Arlington, Va. – The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) is pleased to announce that best-selling author and business consultant Jim Collins will speak at the 2018 NACDS Annual Meeting, April 21-24, in Palm Beach, Fla. Collins has written or coauthored six books that have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. Collins’ definitive book, the number-one bestseller Good to Great, examines why some companies make the transition from being good companies to great companies. His other bestselling books study successful leaders; how once-successful companies can self-destruct; and why some companies are able to thrive amid chaos.

“We are thrilled that Jim Collins will be speaking once again at our Annual Meeting. Jim first participated in the NACDS Annual Meeting in 1996, and has since spoken at several of our other events, including the inaugural NACDS Total Store Expo in 2013,” said NACDS President & CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE. “Jim’s ability to analyze all aspects of business successes and challenges—especially in these rapidly changing times—will be an invaluable asset for NACDS members as they continue to anticipate the future and position themselves proactively. Jim is a master of examining solutions in unpredictable times and brings a great deal of knowledge to the table.”

Collins began his research and teaching career on the faculty at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he received the Distinguished Teaching Award in 1992. In 1995, he founded a management laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, where he conducts research and engages with CEOs and senior-leadership teams.

In addition to his work in the business sector, Collins has a passion for learning and teaching in the social sectors, including education, healthcare, government, faith-based organizations, social ventures and nonprofits. In 2012 and 2013, Collins served a two-year appointment as the Class of 1951 Chair for the Study of Leadership at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

In 2017, Forbes selected Collins as one of the 100 Greatest Living Business Minds.
