In the last week of September, we told pharmacy’s story in an important place, at an important time, and in compelling fashion. As anticipated, NACDS 2023 aligned well with the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.

NACDS on September 28 announced a commitment that was highlighted at the White House Conference on that same day. In addition, aspects of the recommendations that NACDS issued this summer are reflected in the Biden Administration’s National Strategy as announced in the lead-up to the White House Conference.

NACDS continues to tell the story of members’ trusted dedication to healthcare quality, access, convenience and equity. Our latest digital ads showcase the power of “Pharmacies. The face of neighborhood healthcare.” before, during, and beyond the pandemic.

Alongside the Future of Pharmacy Care Coalition, NACDS advocates federal policy solutions that recognize and advance the critical role pharmacists play to care for patients. The Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act (H.R 7213) must be enacted into law.

NACDS strongly supports the bipartisan Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) Act of 2021 (H.R. 3108 / S. 1536) to advance Medicare coverage for MNT to more conditions and expand referring capabilities to help patients most at risk of experiencing health disparities.

For more than seven years, NACDS has engaged with Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) to support its mission of serving the people of Arlington, Virginia – which is home to NACDS’ headquarters office. Please join us in supporting AFAC’s work.

NACDS continues its thought leadership to engage on these important issues. Just one example, NACDS took important messages about social determinants of health to the World Health Care Congress in 2018.
