Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan (R-WI), Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin and Former Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) are set to speak at the 2019 NACDS Annual Meeting, April 27-30.

The 2019 NACDS Annual Meeting is nearly here—April 27-30, in Palm Beach, Fla. World-renowned presidential historian, public speaker and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin will offer insights for business, politics and policy with participants at the at the Business Program on Sunday, April 28. Given the shifting dynamics across industries and throughout the political and public policy arenas, Goodwin will provide firsthand takeaways from her latest book, Leadership in Turbulent Times. Published in September 2018, the book—her seventh—presents a road map for aspiring and established leaders, based on her study of Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Baines Johnson.

Former Senator and six-term Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) will speak at the April 29 NACDS Political Action Committee (NACDS-PAC) Breakfast. Sen. Flake advocated for comprehensive immigration reform and for a traditional conservative approach to spending, including opposition to earmarks. On healthcare issues, Sen. Flake supported a free-market approach focused on lowering costs, encouraging innovation, and enabling individuals to make their own healthcare decisions – with the goal of broadening access to affordable health care. He voted in favor of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (H.R. 6) – which includes key aspects of NACDS’ recommendations to help address opioid abuse.

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan (R-WI) will speak during the Tuesday, April 30, Business Program. Ryan was elected as the 54th Speaker of the House in 2015 and served in that role until January 2019. Prior to becoming Speaker, during his 16-year congressional tenure, Ryan served as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee where he worked to simplify the tax code, protect healthcare choices, advance free trade and strengthen the economy. Ryan spearheaded myriad efforts for reform: rebuilding the nation’s defense, expanding domestic energy production, combating the opioid epidemic, reforming the criminal justice system and promoting economic opportunity.
