Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) immersed herself in her recent NACDS RxIMPACT pharmacy tour of a Hy-Vee in Bloomfield, Iowa, and even donned a white lab jacket for the tour, where she learned the valuable role pharmacy plays in her constituents’ lives. The pharmacy team said the senator was “very engaged” during the tour.

NACDS Vice President of Federal Government Affairs Tom O’Donnell met with the newly-elected senator in December 2014, along with Sen. Grassley (R-IA), at an event where they discussed provider status legislation, which would allow pharmacists to be paid by Medicare Part B for providing services in medically underserved communities. Grassley introduced the NACDS-backed bill in the Senate.
