Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) participated in a pharmacy tour hosted by Jewel-Osco as part of the NACDS RxIMPACT program in McHenry, Ill. In a newsletter to his constituents, Hultgren noted his discussion with the pharmacy team about strategies to increase awareness about proper storage and disposal of opioid drugs.
The pharmacy team briefed Hultgren on provider status legislation and challenges to reimbursement and said the congressman probed deeper, asking questions focused on pharmacy’s perspective on pain management prescriptions and the opioid epidemic in Illinois. The team said Hultgren invited the pharmacy team to share any ideas or best practices they are employing to help keep their patients healthy and safe.
