In an announcement first released this week to members of the NACDS RxIMPACT Pharmacy Advocates group on LinkedIn, NACDS revealed that its 2015 Victory Vision opinion research shows tremendous support among likely voters for the pharmacist provider status legislation.

More than 8-in-10 survey respondents indicated support for the legislation.

More than 8-in-10 survey respondents indicated support for the legislation, including 4-in-10 who indicated that they “strongly favor” it.

NACDS commissioned the survey, which was conducted by Public Opinion Strategies. The Internet survey was conducted in July 2015 among “opinion elites” – likely voters who are engaged and aware when it comes to current events.

The level of support for the pharmacist provider status legislation is similar to that shown in the 2014 survey (82% supported it in 2015, and 79% supported it in 2014). Of importance, the legislation enjoys support across political allegiances, with 78% of Republicans, 86% of Democrats and 81% of Independents favoring it.

The Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act (H.R. 592 and S. 314) would make pharmacist-provided healthcare services available to under-served Medicare patients, as allowed under state law.

NACDS encourages members to join the NACDS RxIMPACT Pharmacy Advocates group on LinkedIn to gain insights on grassroots advocacy, to demonstrate their authority as a pharmacy advocates and to help foster community among those who help to advance a pro-patient, pro-pharmacy agenda.
