On Friday, July 28, members of the NACDS staff team volunteered in the Arlington Food Assistance Center’s (AFAC) Plot Against Hunger garden in Arlington, Va. The team picked 100 pounds of collards, kale, beets, tomatoes, zucchini and yellow squash. Participants also contributed to maintenance of the garden – including weeding and improvement of a deer barrier. While a downpour cut the effort a bit short, the volunteers worked hard to accomplish a lot in a short time.

The NACDS staff team volunteers regularly with AFAC. In April, team members bagged 5,250 pounds of apples, onions and potatoes for distribution to area families.

AFAC helps 2,200 families each week.
