Weis Pharmacy in Allentown, Pa., hosted an NACDS RxIMPACT pharmacy tour last week for Marta Gabriel, regional manager for Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA). The pharmacy team explained the pharmacy services they provide, including a medication synchronization program and an urgent care center. The team emphasized the accessibility and availability of pharmacists in the community, which is especially relevant with the extra patients who are now eligible for healthcare insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

The team also focused on explaining medication therapy management (MTM) and correlating MTM services to improved patient outcomes and reduced overall healthcare spending.

Weis Director of Pharmacy Operations Kenneth Bonner said the pharmacy team successfully conveyed “their knowledge and passion for pharmacy.” The tour was so positive he said, “I would be glad to open our doors again.”
