Palm Beach, Fla. – During the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Annual Meeting, NACDS elected new officers, new Executive Committee members and new Board of Directors members for the coming year.

Mark Panzer, senior vice president, pharmacy, health and wellness of Albertsons Companies will serve as the new chairman of the NACDS Board of Directors. Panzer succeeds Alex Gourlay, co-chief operating officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance & president, Walgreen Co., who completed his term.

In addition, Chris Lane, executive vice president, Wakefern Food Corp./ShopRite was elected NACDS vice chairman, and Richard Ashworth, president, operations, Walgreen Co., was elected NACDS treasurer. Each officer will serve a one-year term.

Anderson, IOM, CAE. “Mark is highly regarded for his experience and results throughout all facets of pharmacy and retail, including outstanding partnerships with suppliers. He is quick to thank those from whom he has learned over the course of his amazing career, and he is quick to give back and to foster the spirit of collaboration for which NACDS is known. We look forward to his continued leadership.”

During the NACDS Annual Meeting, two new Board of Directors members were also elected to serve three-year terms: Nick Loporcaro, president US pharma and specialty health, Health Mart, and Kevin Hourican, executive vice president, CVS Health and president, CVS Pharmacy.

Lane, Ashworth and Hourican were elected to the NACDS Executive Committee.

Previously, in December 2017, two new Board of Directors members also were elected: Kermit Crawford, president and COO, Rite Aid Corporation; and Marybeth Hays, executive vice president, consumables, health and wellness, Walmart. Crawford and Hays were among Board members who were re-elected to three-year terms during the NACDS Annual Meeting.
