In response to a request from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) for policy solutions on prescription drug abuse and prevention, NACDS sent comments this week outlining strategies to address the issue.

NACDS underscored its commitment to supporting ONDCP’S broad goals on the issue and recommended comprehensive policies that curb abuse while also ensuring patients maintain access to needed medications. NACDS focused on several key strategies, including patient and prescriber education, improving prescription drug monitoring programs, facilitating e-prescribing and better collaboration among government agencies.
