Gen. Colin Powell, USA (Ret.) will speak at the NACDS Total Store Expo Business Session on August 20, 2017.
Arlington, VA – From the international issues that are dominating headlines to the corporate social responsibility topics that the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) is making a priority, Gen. Colin Powell, USA (Ret.) will bring to the 2017 NACDS Total Store Expo insights from his over-50-year career in public service.
Gen. Powell will speak at the event’s Business Session on Sunday, August 20. The NACDS Total Store Expo runs from August 19 to 22 in San Diego.

Gen. Powell is perhaps best known for holding senior military and diplomatic positions across four presidential administrations. He served the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush in capacities including National Security Advisor, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Secretary of State.
The son of Jamaican immigrants, he was born in Harlem and raised in South Bronx. His participation in the Army ROTC program at City College of New York led to a highly decorated United States Army career that spanned 35 years, and the rise to the rank of Four-Star General.
Gen. Powell is the chair of the board of visitors of the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at the City College of New York. He is the founder and chairman emeritus of the America’s Promise Alliance, dedicated to forging a strong and effective partnership committed to seeing that children have the fundamental resources they need to succeed. He is chairman of the Eisenhower Fellowships, a cross-cultural program for emerging international leaders, and he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He serves on the board of the Smithsonian Institution’s African American Museum of History and Culture.
In addition to the Business Program, the NACDS Total Store Expo will feature a vibrant educational component that includes topics of relevance to the pharmacy, to the front end of stores, to the entire supply chain.
