Arlington, Va. – The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) today announced that former White House press secretary and noted political commentator Josh Earnest will speak at the NACDS Political Involvement Reception during the 2018 NACDS Total Store Expo, which will be held August 25-27 in Denver.

Earnest, respected by Washington insiders in both parties, is known for his sharp wit and candid observations on politics, honed during his years in the West Wing as President Obama’s lead spokesperson. Earnest is a sought-after commentator, trusted for his ability to provide a measured read on the key issues of the day confronting lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.

“We’re anticipating a very lively and insightful discussion on the current political climate from Josh Earnest, who is so good at parsing the complicated national and global issues of the day.”

“We’re anticipating a very lively and insightful discussion on the current political climate from Josh Earnest, who is so good at parsing the complicated national and global issues of the day,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE. “I’m sure Josh’s firsthand experience in the incredibly challenging job of White House press secretary will give us a window into a world few people in recent times have seen so closely.”

Earnest is currently the chief communications officer for United Airlines.

Earnest began his tenure at the White House at the beginning of President Obama’s first term in office, in January 2009, as the deputy press secretary. During his eight years in the West Wing, Earnest traveled across the country and around the world with the president and attended some of the most pivotal multilateral summits across the globe. Earnest’s two-decade career in politics has taken him from Capitol Hill to some of the most competitive races in the country, including four presidential campaigns.

The bipartisan NACDS-PAC supports congressional candidates who understand and help to advance pro-pharmacy and pro-patient policies. The event is open to NACDS-PAC contributors and invited guests.
