Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) meets with WA pharmacy students at last year’s NACDS RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill.

NACDS has selected 51 students to attend the 2016 NACDS RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill. The students represent 44 pharmacy schools, which is a five percent increase in schools represented at the annual event.

Each year, NACDS RxIMPACT invites student representatives to apply to participate in the NACDS RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill alongside the tandem student program, the NACDS RxIMPACT “U” Academy that primes students about the power of advocacy, the policymaking process and how to effectively communicate with members of Congress on Capitol Hill. Students compete through an application process to win one of coveted spots to participate in the event.

After being trained on the policy making process, effective communication and pharmacy issues, students apply their newly acquired communication skills during their Capitol Hill meetings.
