Each year in August, National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) provides an opportunity to highlight the value of immunization across the lifespan. Activities focus on encouraging all people to protect their health by being immunized against infectious diseases. The NIAM Toolkit, developed by the National Public Health Information Coalition in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, focuses on four weekly themes and this week’s (August 3–9) theme is: A Healthy Start, which encourages pregnant women and infants to get recommended immunizations.

The toolkit contains key messages, vaccine information, sample news releases and articles and is designed to help communicate the importance of immunizations during this annual observance—and throughout the year.
