Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL, second from right) participated in his first NACDS-RxIMPACT pharmacy tour at the Jewel-Osco in Schaumburg, Ill., this week. The pharmacy team explained their engagement in the community, 24-hour access, and dedicated programs to manage chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

The pharmacy tour was especially enlightening for the legislator, as he and his family live in the neighborhood and shop at that location. This time, he was able to go behind the scenes, not as a customer, but as a representative, and learn about the services that are being provided to his constituents. Krishnamoorthi asked how many pharmacies are located in Illinois and how many are specifically in his district.

The pharmacy team thanked him for his support of provider status legislation. He left, they said, “with a better understanding of community pharmacy” and all the services it provides.
