In honor of National Diabetes Month, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) is releasing a series of social posts showcasing NACDS member pharmacies as they highlight diabetes prevention and management efforts throughout November. Over 37 million Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes, and an additional 98 million Americans have pre-diabetes, as defined by high blood glucose (blood sugar).
The campaign complements the broader “Nourish My Health” initiative, part of a commitment by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores to the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health and a collaboration with leading health organizations. “Nourish My Health” will seek to reach millions of Americans, including those who live in rural areas and communities that are underserved, focusing on regions with disproportionate risk of diet-related diseases. The campaign will amplify the importance of preventive screenings and raise awareness of the power of nutritious food as a part of lifestyle changes to improve health outcomes.
“Pharmacies and pharmacists have an essential role to play when it comes to diabetes prevention and chronic care management,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson. “This digital campaign spotlights NACDS member pharmacies’ tremendous and ongoing work to deliver total health and wellness solutions to communities nationwide, during National Diabetes Month and every day.”

In addition to partnering health organizations, NACDS member pharmacy companies are participating in “Nourish My Health” at select locations — leveraging scheduled wellness events, immunization clinics, and National Diabetes Month.
