--Harvard economists Claudia Goldin and Lawrence Katz

February 11, 2013

An article on CNN Money, Pharmacist: most equal job for men and women, reports that doctors are still mostly men, and nurses are almost all women. But pharmacists are another story. "The position of pharmacist is probably the most egalitarian of all U.S. professions today," Harvard economists Claudia Goldin and Lawrence Katz wrote in a paper on the subject they published in September.

Women make up slightly more than 50 percent of all full-time pharmacists, according to Census data collected in 2011. Once you factor in part-timers, they make up around 55 percent of the profession.
